Fire Brigades Union
We built the new Fire Brigades Union (FBU) website. Their key priority is effective navigation. As with many union websites, they have a huge amount of content, and so using members feedback and our Information Architecture skills, we completely revised the content and navigation structure. We made things like blog posts, pay rates and circulars much easier to find.
We’ve created a consistent taxonomy (subject list) that allows users to quickly browse content by topic and location. We’ve also improved the search system, and placed a greater emphasis on being able to find resources more easily. This was especially needed, and we’ve also added thousands of new content to the site, such as conference policies going back to 1975, following a request to add archived information.
The new site is build in the powerful open sources Drupal Content Management System. We also encrypted the site and introduced the CloudFlare website firewall for increased security and protection.
As with all our sites, the design is responsive, making it mobile and tablet friendly. We also added a dyslexia friendly mode, to help users who find lower contrasts easier to read.
